About this blog

Welcome to my corner of the Oracle EPM world. Here is a information about me and this blog. Please connect with me on LinkedIn.

About Robert Gideon

I’m a consultant and integration professional with a passion for Enterprise Performance Management, Enterprise Data Management, data governance, and enterprise architecture. Over the years I’ve worked with organizations of all sizes helping them design, implement, integrate, and govern their EPM ecosystems. I particularly enjoy connecting with and helping people solve their technical challenges.

This blog is where I share what I’m learning, what I’m building, and occasionally what I’m breaking.

Unlike product documentation or marketing material, these posts come from the perspective of someone who spends time working with real customers, real requirements, real deadlines, and real-world constraints. Some articles are technical deep dives. Others are architectural discussions, implementation lessons, product reviews, or opinions on where Oracle EPM and EDM are heading.

Areas of Interest

Topics you’ll commonly find here include:

  • Oracle Enterprise Data Management (EDM)
  • Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service (PBCS / Planning)
  • Financial Consolidation and Close (FCC)
  • Oracle Data Integration
  • EPM Cloud architecture and design
  • Metadata governance
  • Master data management concepts
  • Integration patterns and automation
  • Emerging AI capabilities within Oracle EPM

Over the last few years I’ve become particularly interested in Enterprise Data Management and the role it can play as a strategic data governance platform rather than simply a metadata maintenance tool.

Why I Write

I started this blog to document ideas, implementation experiences, and observations from projects in the field.

Sometimes I write about new Oracle features. Sometimes I challenge common implementation approaches. Sometimes I simply want to capture lessons learned before I forget them.

My goal is to create content that is useful for consultants, administrators, architects, developers, and anyone responsible for making Oracle EPM systems successful.

If a post helps someone solve a problem, avoid a mistake, or think about a design challenge differently, then it has accomplished its purpose.

A Little More About Me

Professionally, I work primarily in Oracle EPM, integrations, and data management. I hold multiple Oracle certifications and am honored to be recognized as an Oracle ACE.

Outside of technology, I’m active in Scouting America and enjoy spending time with family, volunteering, working in my garage on any number of projects, and pursuing lifelong learning.
